Recently, renowned antiwar activist and former Afghan member of Parliament MALALAI JOYA came to New York to raise awareness about the human rights crisis in Afghanistan, which she documents in her book A Woman Among Warlords. APF talked to her about the consequences of the US occupation, the challenges she's faced as a woman and a rights activist, and her thoughts on the revolutions in the Arab world.
On Monday, May 23, join APF for a special two-hour fundraiser show featuring Malalai Joya and her new book. We'll air our full-length interview with her, and talk to PRACHI PATANKAR of the South Asia Solidarity Initiative, about the successful local effort to pressure the U.S. government into granting Joya a visa to travel to the United States for her book tour after the visa was denied.
Please call in to pledge to support APF & WBAI. For a pledge to support independent media, we'll be offering A Woman Among Warlords and our interview with her. You can call the station at 212-209-2950 or visit wbai.org to pledge your support. We need *you* to help us broadcast progressive and leftist perspectives on Asia and Asian America, through voices that do not have an audience in the mainstream media.
