Justice for Kang Wong: Pack the Courts Action, 3/12
March 12, 2014
Date: Wednesday, March 12 at 8:45 AM, Press Conference Proceeding the Court Hearing
Location: Criminal Court, 100 Centre Street, Courtroom AR1, Manhattan
On Wednesday, March 12, we are packing the courts and holding a press conference to demand justice for Mr. Kang Wong. In January, Mr. Wong, who speaks limited English, was hospitalized with head injuries after NYPD stopped him for allegedly jaywalking. Since the incident, Mr. Wong has been criminally charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of government administration.
We are demanding all charges against Mr. Wong be dropped and that the NYPD be held accountable for their unjust actions. It is the NYPD that should be accountable for using excessive force, failing to provide interpretation, and targeting jaywalking for citations without community notice or input. We are asking allies, volunteers, and CAAAV supporters for their presence at the action. Will you join us in seeking justice for Mr. Wong? To RSVP, please e-mail Ruben at ran@caaav.org.
